Remove Adware
Adware is a two faced coin. On one side, it's an internet menace. It's also a major revenue source for companies that bundle the advertising ware with their programs and utilities that serve a useful purpose. Often times adware is a trade-off, in order to get the program you want, you accept the adware and deal with its intrusions because you are benefiting from the program. The real problem comes when you no longer need the program and want to remove adware.
The examples of adware are as diverse as they are prevalent. A common type of adware are the toolbars that are all the rage. Adware is also found in browser hijacking that sends your legitimate shopping searches to sites owned by the adware company. They are found in the obtrusive pop up and pop under ads that are so common.
In a perfect world, the adware would be as easy to remove as removing the program that came bundled with it. Unfortunately, this is often not the case. The adware will engrain itself inside of your Windows registry and will always be ready to rear its ugly head. This is what makes adware the menace that it is. It's difficult to remove even after you are done using the program that came bundled with it. Fortunately there are remove adware programs that can help you get a handle on this menace.
Of course, the first step you should take when you want to remove adware is to first remove the program that came bundled with the adware. It's usually as simple as going to add/remove programs and installing the program. Often times you will be prompted to remove the adware. Go ahead and remove it, but don't hold your breath that the adware will be removed. Remember, this is just the first step in a two step process.
After removing the program that came bundled with the adware, you are ready to move on to the next step. For this step, you need a remove adware program. You'll want one with a proven track record of removing harmful adware. If you are using Vista, then make sure you are using a program that is Vista compatible. Once you have your remove adware program installed, you can simply run the scanner and have it delete the offending adware. After removal, you'll want to reboot your computer. If you have a particularly bad infestation of adware, it might be a good idea to repeat the scan after a reboot. Once you have used the remove adware program, you'll feel like you have regained control of your computer.
